Yesterday I left work due to a migrane. I had only experienced one in my life but because this one brought with it swelling of the eyes I assumed I was coming down with a flu. Today I don't have a headache but am experiencing blurry vision as I have the past couple of days.
I'm I correct in assuming its the MS b/c of this vision problem? I really thought I was going to get off lucky but not having my vision be effected. And I can still deal with this knowing it will clear up but I don't know if I could day to day. It's throwing my balance off.
Who can relay stories of their expereince with this?

Headache
From The MS Information Sourcebook, produced by the National MS Society.
Although headache is not a common symptom of MS, some reports suggest that people with MS have an increased incidence of certain types of headache.
One report noted that migraine headaches were more than twice as common in a group of MS patients than in a matched group of people without MS. Other investigators found a prior diagnosis of migraine in one-third of the MS group being studied. A third study found that 20% of a sample group of people with MS had a family history of migraine, compared to 10% of controls, suggesting that there may be a common predisposing factor to both MS and migraine. Vascular or migraine type headaches have even been reported as the first symptom of MS.

I've had headaches which turned to migraines before my MS became active. I went to a neuro who prescribed a medication specifically for migraines. During the time it was extremely active I had no headaches or migraines.
Now that my MS has settled down from having almost continual acute attacks for 4 years my headaches are back. I take generic Excedrin bought at Wal-Mart for them.
Take care.
You could just be having a "hangover" from the migraine, but if you're having blurry vision, you really should go see an opthalmologist (NOT an optician) and have the opthalmologist check and see if you have any signs of optic neuritis. (inflammation of the optic nerve)
If you have ON, the optho could either Rx you some steroids, or he'll just wait and see if the ON resolves on it's own. I had/still have? optic neuritis from last august. I've never had the steroids and my vision is improving now.
Go see the opthalmologist...and always follow the advice that you never ever ever ever ever ever ever mess with your eyes. You only get two and you dont get replacements for those if they go bad.

Hi,
I'm so sorry to learn of your headache and eye trouble. MS never seems to be easy. Did you have other migraine-type symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, aura, neck pain or sensitivity to light and/or sound?
I just posted a new thread about my D's first migraine and I copied and pasted 0357's post above to that thread, I hope you don't mind.
Please keep us posted. I'm sure you're anxious to find out if the eye pain is associated with migraine (as with common migraine) or if it is due to ON, or perhaps both.
Best of luck.

Hi Annie, I only had one migrane years ago where I did vomit. This one it was a close call. It was so wicked that it took 3 days/nights straight of staying in bed. I am fine now. My vision has improved as well.
What I do experience and my belief is from MS is about once a year I will get a week or more of intense headaches on and off. It is managable w/o prescribed medication or having to see a doctor.
Just want to be clear here: My neurologist is well aware about my headaches and when they hit.
