Even Dr. Mercola cannot convince his relatives about the importance of diet. One would think that he would have all his family members eating grain free and sugar free. If he can't, what chance do we have?

Anne,

What besides gluten are you free of.

It has been such a long time since I had refined sugar that when it does show up in something unexpectantly, it brings on exhaustion. Like yesterday- I had a small piece of something made with refined sugar. The item was gluten and dairy free but contained refined sugar. I could not get out of bed this morning and I had "brain fog" for a good three hours last night. IS that refined sugar at work?

Or is this a DQ1/ DQ3 thing?:D

we just had a talk with my middle son about getting tested for gluten sensitivity. i was surprised that he and his wife were eager to look into this. my son has had alopecia areata, has broken several bones (making me suspect that he, too, has osteoporosis), has a dowager's hump (small, but seems to be getting worse) and gets constant ulcers in his mouth.

but other family members are definitely looking at us like we're crazy. it's hard for me now to see others that i'm sure would benefit from the diet or should at least get tested, but they think it's all nonsense.

Sure sounds like your middle son may be affected by gluten. Glad he is willing to test.

How was Disneyworld? Have you and Nick started on a GF diet? How is he doing.

yeah, i was really glad about how well that conversation went over. the more i read about gluten, the more i think matthew fits the profile as much as nick does.

disney was great. nick had a wonderful time and was so surprised and excited. we got a special pass since he doesn't sweat, so we were able to have our wait times drastically reduced.

we didn't start the diet yet, but we're getting prepared. the gi appointment is tuesday and i'm going to ask him to schedule the endoscopy as quickly as possible. we'll probably start the day after or even the afternoon of the endoscopy.
