My BP has been high for a few days now with really bad headaches. At the Dr's yesterday it was 180/115. This morning I got up with the head pain. I was reading here and my right leg and arm come very weak. But it didn't last very long. SO I thought it just in my head. SO I thought I would see what happen later. My head still hurts but the weakness is not bad. I can walk and I can talk so I am talking it things are okay. But I will tell DH when he come home from work tonight. I hope I am doing thing right. I just want my head to stop hurting. I don't have any thing for it. Didn't get new meds yet till thursday pay day. So I have been taking asprins. All I have.

Deb, with the high BP stop taking the aspirin as it is a blood thinner and you run an increased risk of stroke. See your doctor about your BP so the appointment focuses on the high BP not your pain. It is pretty obvious that your pain is increasing your BP but you need to have the doctor focus on your BP right now!
Get the BP under control and then work on your headaches, hopefully they will decrease as your BP declines.

If you have a decent pharmacy, they should be willing to front you a couple pills to cover you until pay day. I take 2 different HBP pills per day. I get 90 day supplies by mail order so I won't run out. It's less expensive too!!

Deb,
Jim is right and it wouldn't hurt to ask, my pharmacist has done this for me before.
Also I don't know what you take but walmart and a few of the other dept. stores have list of meds which they have no charge for and your BP med could be one if it's a generic.
I ran the list of the other day for my daughter, she doesn't have ins. and has twins, I know they had meds for about everything but maybe pain..

At that BP .. you are at GREAT RISK of a STROKE - GET TREATMENT NOW!

I agree with Pharmacist Steve, at that high of a pressure and with the weakness in one side of your body you may be having a stroke, and if you get treatment now you will have more of a chance of recovering from any neuro damage a stroke can do. I have a cousin that had one, not thinking anything was that wrong. She's been told she'll never recover full usage of one side of her body again, because she waited a day or two to get seen about it. I'd go to the er, because they will take something like this seriously.

Deb, if my concern about your BP wasn't evident enough Steve put it stronger and rightly so. See a doctor now as this isn't something to play around with and I don't understand how your doctor let you walk out of the office with BP this high. Your head pain could be the pain from a stroke!

I just wanted to say thanks to Steve, Shotspine, and Jo. I hope she took the warnings and got to the ER as she wasn't acting upon it quick enough. Thanks for pushing it hard enough.
Kristin, I am like you and hope she paid attention and went in to the ER as the warning signs were for a stroke.

Hey I just got back home. I had a small stroke. they keep me there in the ER all night. They hooked me up to IV and heart monitor. They did a cat scan which showed the small stroke. He called it something but comes down to small stroke. He said alot of people have them and don't even know it till the big one comes. Dr said nothing they can do. he did up my BP meds. But he said to get with my Dr cause I may have a big one at any time.
Thank you for making me go. I wasn't going to go cause of hubby. Then he seen what you all wrote and said lets go.We didn't have to wait which was good. After they told me they where going to keep a eye on things I told hubby to go home and sleep. I would call him in the monrning.
BP in down now but I have to take it easy and NO stress
I love you all thank you from the bottom of my heart.

HI deb,
I'm glad that the other members were able to convince you to go to the ER. It sounds like you had a TIA(small stroke) These are like strokes, only the neurological symptoms are reversable, and only last a short time. However, they are a sign that you are at risk for a bigger stroke, and that you should work with your doctor to try and prevent that from happening. I don't remember, but if you smoke, quiting would probably be a good idea. Anyway I'm glad that you got the help that you needed and are ok.
best wishes,
kurt

Deb, glad to hear you went and that it was caught in time. Now you are aware of the danger of a big stroke and the risk you are facing. It is good to hear your BP is down and I hope you are able to keep it down.

I'm so glad you made it in and got this seen before it got too bad. And to think, you were just at the doctor about your blood pressure... when you call his office to get this in their record he is going to feel like such an a**! Take it easy, try and stop smoking, and you definitely need to keep an eye on you blood pressure from here on out. I'm glad you're feeling better! I was worried you would ignore us last night and wait...

Deb.....I wrote a post and lost it.........just wanted to let you know how happy I am to see you finally went to the ER. Stay stress free and listen to your body.....
Steve, I love your large font and probably the one single post that got Deb moving. I don't see where to change font size, can you tell me? Edit: Never mind Steve, I just looked at the 'regular post reply' and see it. I've only been using the 'quick reply'. I learn something new everyday on these forums, thanks to all the great people here.

I love you all. I had to go back to the ER today BP went back up. They got it down. The Dr told me next time I feel week or any thing the first thing I do is call 911 no but he said. Oh yea by the way the ER Dr called my Dr and the office told him I just had FM headache. He said I want the Dr on the phone NOW.He told him what going on and I hope he feels like a a$$.ER Dr was not happy with him. This ER DR stayed with me for 45 min today. He checked my BP not the nurse. It was 180/110 today and he got it down to 150/98/ I have to have it check every day for 2 week. He did blood test today again and I will take them with me to PM next week with the Cat scan. Was so glad someone stuck up for me. it felt good and I told him so.
Love to you all ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))

Deb, it is time to dump your doctor and you need to do it right now. He is worse than useless right now and is acting in ways that are dangerous for your health. Find someone soon as you can't count on this doctor to make good decisions about your health.

I couldn't find a LARGER FONT... or I would have use it :-)
I suspect that she was on "the edge" and most likely it was going to be downhill from there... I am glad that she listened!

One thing that I'm surprised nobody picked up on, is that the high blood pressure is more than likely the culprit of your current headaches!
When my BP gets to high, my vision gets blurred and I'll have a headache for days. I bought a cheap home BP monitor that I can keep better track of the pressure readings. You need to get one of these. I got one at Wal Mart for about $25. They have them cheaper, but harder to use; and more expensive if you can afford it. Either way, it's a must for you!!!!
You need to take it 3X a day and chart it. Then take it with you to the drs office. You should be seeing a cardiologist and not a family dr. anymore. They obviously don't know what the heck they're doing. Blood pressure that high is probably not JUST pain related. There is something else going on.
I'm going through the same thing, only without the stroke because we are watching it very carefully and instructed to head to the ER if any of the symptoms you had appear. Your Dr. sounds horrible, and that's being nice.
Don't mess around anymore with your BP. If left uncontrolled you'll wish you only had back pain to deal with.
Please................. take care of yourself.

The BP can cause headaches. Headaches can cause HP. Famn headaches and bp!! Even if you didn't/don't have money tll next Thurday, ask the doc for sampled fo your BP mes Or ask your pharm. They (some anyway) will bed overbackwards just to make sure you have the meds.
Please - you don't need a stroke to go along with your other problems.
Hugs girl- hard to tell which came first i know, but getting 'rid' of one will help a ton with the other

Next Thirsday I start a new PM and I hope they can do something about it. The Best thing about this PM it is with a teaching hospital. It is in Greenvill,NC call Pitt Hospital. I am going to ask for a new Dr there.
