Hi Folks!

I'm a member of the spinal forum and just surfed my way here, and was reading a bit about neurontin and weight gain. I too have experienced a great weight increase since being on Lyrica (basically the same drug). But it seemed to me that since my nerve injury I have been less active, too. So I'm not sure if it's the drug, the change in lifestyle, or both!

I've also been using Ambien and notice that if I don't get to sleep promptly after taking it I have an incredible urge to get up and eat anything I can get my hands on! Recently one of the network news stations did a program on that very subject, which I found profoundly reassuring (that I wasn't the only one affected in similar fashion). As a result I've cut the dosage from 10mg to 5mg and find I get just as sleepy but have much less urge to munch.

Thanks for reading, and any replies are appreciated.

Steve

I was on Ambien for a very long time and then switched to AmbienCR for about 3 months. I started eating and eating after taking it and waking up in the morning with food all over the floor and on counter tops in the kitchen. I would not go to sleep for hours and then would start eating almost in my sleep. Went on to have a wreck and total my car which I am sure and so is my family, that ambien was the cause. Please read about it and the horrible side effects it causes. I actually blacked out driving! Have been off of ambien now for about 3 months and still have not recovered competely. Please pease go to a sleep dotor and find out the cause of your insomnia and treat it and get offf the meds. Believe me it can change your life. There have been articles on the web and TV reporting the side effects of these sleep meds. I have no way to prove my case with the company, and do not intend to try...just want to help others to not have the same thing happen to them. Take care and please do the research. My insominia is from years of pain and now I am seeing a alternate doc and not one that passes out sleep meds for a symptom without finding the cause. God bless, Gaye

By the way I am not a new member at all and have been on the old forums for years...just have a new name change. :)

Ambien made me see things in our bed, also saw a woman with her hands on my husbands shoulders..(cant have that) then we went out of town and spent the night at someones house and they found food in the bed...I was a bit embarassed to say the least. I am also on Lyrica right now and that alone usually puts me asleep

I've just been put on the generic for ambien with both my new doctor's blessing and my new sleep doctor. I was tested in 02 and told I had sleep apnea. This doctor says no, it is insomnia. I usually took a generix xanax OCCASIONALLY but both doctors acted as if I were on the worst thing possible. Go figure, I can keep one prescription almost forever and now they want me to change that. I am FAST becomming addicted to this new replacement and find I am getting more dependant on generic ambien than I was ever on the generic xanax. Guess I'd better start doing some more reading and fast. I do know my being awake at night led me to eating more later than I needed too. didn't need that either! I do not usually post here but the Ambien caught my eye so I had to read what was said. So glad I did.
