Has anyone taken escitalopram for FM? I have just started taking 10mg daily for my FM symptoms and was wondering what results others have had. Along with the FM pain I am experiencing depression and a lack of energy. Hopefully this new med will offer some relief.

Hi Ginger
I've taken celexa, then lexapro, now back on celexa for at least 5 years. Also take Wellbutrin (I have depression as well as Fibro)
haven't noticed that it helps all that much with the fibro, but maybe if I didn't have depression it would have a stronger effect on that problem
good luck to you, keep us posted on your progress
love,
Linda

Linda, how many mg of Wellbutrin are you taking? I've been on 150 mgs. The doctor decided to switch me to Cymbalta today, mostly because of it's help with pain. The doctor says he thinks Cymbalta will be approved for fibro soon....
ginger, I've only just been diagnosed, so I haven't tried those meds yet. I hope we both find something to help soon.

I take 400mg of Wellbutrin SR per day - I like it because it "wakes me up" I have a lot of trouble with fatigue/sleepiness
I've thought about Cymbalta but am afraid of switching????

I understand being afraid of switching... The Wellbutrin wakes me up too much, I think it's making it harder for me to sleep. I took my first Cymbalta last night, and had an awful night, tossing and turning, waking up constantly. :(

Lexapro was great for my depression and anxiety, but didn't do a lick for my fibromyalgia. I'm so tired of them prescribing anti-depressants for FMS that have never been proven to do anything for FMS symptoms. (At least Elavil and Cymbalta have been shown to be effective...)
Anyway Lexapro was my favorite of all the anti-D's I tried for my mental and physical health

The Wellbutrin SR (old fashioned type) doesn't keep you awake as bad as the Wellbutrin XR (long acting type) Take the SR early in the day so it can wear off before bedtime - it's cheaper too;)

I am on Lexapro and it does help with my anxiety and depression. But as with others does squat for my FM. Then again nothing does for long!:D I tried Cymbalta and Elivil and neither worked for me.
Good luck for anyone who tries it.
