Hi there.. that should have said No it is not "safe" to have eye surgerys without precautions taken.
I think precautions should be taken for all surgerys or any other procedure that can agrivate your sympathetic system.
I have opted out of one surgery because of RSD and had dental work done with precautions taken to not agravate my system sucessfully. They gave me the choice of adavan or laughing gas and they froze the area very well before, after the procedure he refroze me very well again.
I since had an angiogram done from my right arm with no precautions taken :( and ended up with a flare up in that arm and now a permanently useless radial artery to show for it.
I have read alot of acounts of how RSD spreads and surgery is a very easy way to spread it, ice and disuse too (and too vigorus PT for me).
Please read up on this and have precautions taken if you should chose to have this surgery

Before I had my treatment with[name removed,] I had trouble seeing clearly even with my glasses on. Now I can see my alarm clock without holding it in front of my face and I can see road signs without squinting. I don’t hate driving at night anymore. My life is so much better now; I only wish I had gone to Lasik-1 sooner! Thank you for helping me see what I’ve been missing!"

I've had cataract surgery on both eyes. I had stellate blocks before the surgery. There is nothing to the surgery. They did mine one eye at a time.
I had my spinal cord stimulator revised in November 06, my right eye done in December 06, and my left eye done in January 06.
The left eye I had no problem.
My right eye, my retina swelled, and the whole side of my face was bruised and stayed that way for 5-6 weeks.
My RSD is worse on the right than on the left.
I have RSD in my right upper and lower extremity and left upper extremity.
My cataracts were fast growing, probably from Betastone that was used in prior blocks.
I had an eye exam one year prior and I did not have cataracts and the next year I had cataracts that covered my whole eyes. I thought it was the meds I as on making my vision blurry.
I ended up with mono vision. One eye I can see near and one eye I can see far, the wrong lens was implanted. I could have had it replaced, but the wrong lens was on the right eye, I declined.
I was told that the results of cataract surgery and Lasik are pretty much the same, with either the result is near or distant vision - not both (unless you are like me).
