Hi Everyone! I'm usually a regular at Child Neurology and have a child with epilepsy- I see some familiar names here. HI!
My Husband's Brother and wife are pregnant, and there was an abnormality found on her 17 week ultra sound. A second ultra sound confirmed a "malformation of the spine and cerebellum" - they have not told us the official name of the problem and are awaiting an MRI next week. Googling this has led me to find Chiari.
It seems in reading about Chiari, there are varying degrees. The individuals that seem to have a "normal" (for lack of better word) life seem to have found their Chiari by accident. I'm curious as to what the prognosis and lifestyle is if Chiari is found during a pre-natal ultra sound. I assume it would not be the "type one" type of Chiari, and that there may be other issues to deal with. Also, are seizures an issue with Chiari?
Please feel free to lend me your thoughts and experience. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks!
Kelly
