Hi everyone, long time lurker, first post - I have been on one time released pain med and one fast acting pain med for years and still have outstanding pain (I know I'll never be pain free and I accept that!). I was on Nuerontin for a long time but it really wasn't working so my doc just prescribed Lyrica.
I noticed that it is flagged as a controlled substance on the label and I don't want to add another one of those to my list. Any reason why this is so? Or am I reading the label incorrectly?? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Kelly

I am sure that this is no logical reason behind this C-V classification. I suspect that some bureaucrat in the DEA .. saw that one of the indications is for neuropathy PAIN and came to the conclusion that if it treat PAIN .. it MUST be potentially addicting. Also once it is labeled as a scheduled drug .. IF it does prove to be POTENTIALLY ADDICTING.. then it will be much easier for the DEA to move it up the schedule than to make it a scheduled drug after it was introduced to the market.
Most C-V drugs are OTC cough syrups containing codiene. I would not be concerned about it...

Steve,
Thank you, I won't be concerned about it then since it's not a narcotic, I appreciate the quick response.

In the insert it does say if you are addiction prone to be very careful.
I had no probs stopping it...neurontin worked better for me.
