Mom and Baby are both doing great. Grandma here needs some pain meds...with every push, Grandma pushed and boy are my muscles sore lol

Laci Marie arrived at 9:11 pm tonight, Sunday, October 15, 2006. She weighs 6 lbs 3 ozs. We don't know the length yet. They didn't take her to the nursery until around 11 pm. She's BEAUTIFUL just like her mommy! Tears were flowing from all around. WOW! What a beautiful site to watch! She has a head full of hair. Her little eyes were wide open after just a few minutes and she was looking all around for the past 2 hours. She's a cutie!!!

BIRTH STORY:

Nikki arrived at 3:00 and was 5 cm dilated, 100% effaced, and at -2 station. AT 5:15 she was 7 cm dilated and 0 station. 45 minutes later she was 8-9 cm dilated and at 2+ station. At 8:00 Nikki begain pushing. Just like a champ! She didn't need any vac. help or assistance. At 9:11 Laci entered this world and our lives so richly blessed. Have I said how adorable she is? ;) PERFECT from head to toe. There were 4 doctors in the room, 3 nurses, me, Tim and my DH. Nikki's dad, my youngest son, and middle son were waiting outside the door. My Mom didn't make it up from Florida, but my DH had her on the phone so she could her Laci's first cry. Nikki tore and needed 3 stitches, but she did wonderful. Laci's scores were 9 & 9. Around 10:30 Laci nursed for the first time. Laci took right to it and again....Nikki looked like a pro! This Grandma's on cloud nine!!!

Hi, Nina, (or should I say Grandma??)
You have been SO blessed to have a daughter like Nikki and now little Laci has entered your world and nothing will ever be the same. I am SO happy for Nikki and will be praying for Nikki that a shunt failure is NOT in her future. Unfortinately, I could not have either one of my girls naturally. I just did not progress with Bethany, and I was already in shunt failure when the doc took Elisabeth. I am so happy that Nilli got through labor OK!

Reading the news of Nikki's giving birth is a great reminder that God is good. With all that Nikki has been through medically, it's quite inspiring.

AWE! Thanks for all of the warm congrats! Nikki will be so tickled when she reads these posts. I'm also going to print them for Laci's baby book. ;)

She's 19 1/4 inches long and 6 lbs 3 ozs. Petite just like her Mommy. She's a little "mini Nikki" with dark hair :D She's still just as gorgeous. Maybe even more so than yesterday :D This little stinker is SPOILED already and she's not even 24 hours old yet. lol The few times she was layed in her hospital bassinet, she cried within seconds. Of course Nikki said, "look what YOU'VE done, Mom!"

I finally got to bed at 1:30 this morning and Nikki called at 6:30 a.m. "Mom, DH is going to work, so you can come ANYTIME. Of course, I jumped up, didn't even take time for my coffee :eek: had a shower and headed to the hospital. When I got there the baby was laying between Nikki's legs and Nikki had this "LOOK" on her face. "Mom, how do I cange her with these "pants on?" They brought her back from the nursery after cleaning her up, etc., with these on. No snaps, no bottons, and a small opening between her legs. I took them off changed her, cuddled her, took some more pictures and then proceeded to look at the "pants" before putting them back on her. The pants were a long sleeve tee-shirt put on Laci upside down (cool idea, huh?) We both just giggled. An hour later I go down stairs to get us breakfast, come back up and Nikki looks like she's going to bust out crying...."MOM...Laci doesn't have the same blood type as me. For a moment she was just devestated. Because of this they tested her for jaundice. Negative. When they came to do the heel stick I layed Laci in her bassinet and she started to cry before they stuck her and so did Nikki. Nikki said, "Mom hold her hand." So I held Laci's hand with one of my hands and Nikki's hand with the other. It hurt Nikki much more than Laci.

Mom and Laci are both recovering well. They will probably be home (with Grandma :) ) tomorrow. YIPPEE! More spoiling to be done.... and more pictures to be taken. lol

Such a hard, long, scary, pregnancy, but a breeze delivery. Thank God!

OK, so I noticed that I spelled Laci's name wrong on the title of my post....I must have been tired...lol
