I recently was told by my WC Doc that I had chronic pain, and he did't want to give me narcotics for it. ( to make a long story short, he is joining in a hospital practice and I believe he no longer wants WC patients) I went to ER they sent me home on morphine (Avinza), 1/2 of what I was on berfore, and percosets for breakthrough. I had to quit the percosets, because of rebound headaches. So have been taking Darvocets from before for breakthrough. I am not getting much pain relief at all. The burning and twitching and spasms, have just been getting worse now for last 3 days. Today, the pain is bad enough, that I am taking benedryl, in hopes I will just sleep. But, my question is, today, not only is it my leg, but my whole body aches, and I am just weak. Have any of you had this?

Also, on another note, I have a tooth that really needs work, and I know that anything invasive came make is spread, I reaally am not ready to have this on my face. Any ideas about this, while rememberig WC will not pay for any of it?

I know I am rambling, sorry, I just hurt so bad.

Aww sory your feelin so bad Sithie, I am also dealing with WCB meds problems too.. an well just lotsa WBC problems period. Stress headaches they give me.:(

I have been to see a dentist a couple months ago.. I did my research well beforehand and found that we have to keep our sympathetic systems as calm (pain free) as possible throughout the procedure. I phoned around and of cource none of the dentists knew of RSD/CRPS, but one was very interested right off the bat, he did some research and his secratary called me back saying the dentist wants to see me.

I went in and he was very comfident they could keep me comfortable and they gave me a choice of Laughing gas or atavan and would freeze extra well prior and post procedure... It worked.. no spread to that area it did take a long time to heal though.

Good luck to you, do your research and bring in articals (medical) for the dentist to read on a visit prior (a doctor would perscribe atavan), and dont leave your padding in your mouth too long it creates pressure pain ohh and careful rinsing and you'll be fine..:D
though I am certainly not an expert and it is always wise to do your own research as well, we have to look out for ourselves to be as knowlegable as possible, cause alot of people DR's nurses etc that just don't have a clue.

Sithie:
I think the second post answered you question about you tooth brilliantly.
Both, you Doctor leaving you and your ER visit, have you considered the amount of "morphine (Avinza), 1/2 of what I was on before, and percosets for breakthrough", may not be enough medication to sustain you at your previous levels, therefore you maybe expressing withdrawal symptoms? I personal do not know the half-life of morphine. Myself, I am on Methadone (5mg X 4 per day),Vicoden ES (7.5/mg) for breakthrough. I also take Soma for sleep and Topamax (150 mg) for neuropathic pain or neuropathy. The Methadone has a half-life of 72 hours or 3 days before it reaches it's "peak" so to speak and then starts down the other side toward completely leaving my body.
Again, I don't know the half-life of morphine, percosets or Darvocets. I know with the last two, just like with Vicoden, you need to be cautious because the other active ingredient is basically generic Tylenol which in large doses causes liver damage.
My first impression when I read your post, especially concerning..."burning and twitching and spasms, have just been getting worse now for last 3 days....not only is it my leg, but my whole body aches, and I am just weak."...Today, the pain is bad enough, that I am taking benedryl, in hopes I will just sleep." Do you think you might be experiencing psychological withdrawal symptoms? If so, I urge you to contact your WC attorney, if you have one for another referral immediately or call back that other WC Dr. who refused you and demand an immediate referral. Drs. cannot or at least should not abandon their patients. At the very least call the WC attorney, explain the situation and have them contact the perceive Doc so you have some support and go back to the ER. (Maybe the previous Doc can supply records of the amounts of meds. Then the ER will be less likely to view you as having drug-seeking behavior.) Does this make any sense? I can't tell you how many time the pain has been so bad I just wanted to sleep!
