I am getting compounded rx's for my cat Socks, she is hyperthryoid and has asthma. My problem is I am now leary of the pharmacy because first no one told me these drugs expired after 30 days and there was no expiration date on any of the rx's I got for her.

I have been getting two forms of rx for thryoid one is a cream you put on the ears and the second is a liquid. Both of these were filled the same day by the same pharmist but again she didn't mention they expired after 30 days even though she knew she was giving me a sixty day supply (I have been alternating the drugs).

I wonder if anyone else has a hyperthryoid pet and what kind of medication is used. I know I seem paranoid not trusting the pharmacy but with all the food recall and I lost my other two cats in February & March and Socks is my whole family.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Ranger, first I want to say how sorry I am you've lost 2 cats so recently. I know the anquish of losing a pet.

I have no experience with compound pharmacies myself, just wonder why you decided to use this method rather than get RX from your vet?

As for the expiration of the meds, ask the pharmacist! Seems to me that you should be getting this info when you get the meds, or perhaps you should demand a refund or credit for next month's supply??

Hopefully someone else will come along with some experience in this, sorry I can't really be of help. It's an interesting question & wish you luck in getting it resolved.

P.S. Socks you have a caring owner, ya better stick around awhile cause you are needed in the household ya know!
