I can't remember the name but I'm wondering if anyone has. I'm not clear if I have fibro. I've been diagnosed but I do have an old spinal injury that now that I'm getting older changes are occurring in my spine. But lately I'm catching everything and someone mentioned to me that it includes a decreased immune system.

Hello...wellcome to Braintalk forums...glad you found us!
I've seen all sorts of videos, news clips, medical media informational clips which address Fibromyalgia from vastly different aspects.
Seems everyone has an angle or possible "cure" for his debilitating syndrome/disease/symptoms.
There are doctors out there who claim no such "thing" as fibro.
Here's a sad case...a doctor of internal med has a mother who was diagnosed by someone other than her own son, with Fibromyalgia.
He flew off the handle at his mother, claimed she was a drug seeking-lazy-whining-hypochondriac!
He was livid that his mother had been diagnosed with this as there's no such "thing" as Fibromyalgia.
That its just a diagnoses used to described disgruntled attention seeking housewives who have nothing better to do than seek pain meds, lay on the couch, eat chips, watch soap operas and whine!
That women do this so they dont have to clean their own house or iron mens shirts.
He claims they've read about its symptoms in National Enquirer or Oprah magazines while standing in grocery line, now they magically know which trigger points to complain about.
This man has no compasion or mercy for his own mother who can hardly sit up straight due to her pain.
He belittles her in front of others, saying she's being meladramatic, trauma drama queen looking for someone to feel sorry for her.
He's made demands that she NOT take those mind altering drugs needed for sleep and the pain meds will only turn her into a street corner drug addict.
This poor woman has suffered for years under his "thumb" because he's a doctor! And EVERYONE respects a doctor, right? Not me!
Its doctors like these that causes harm by being so errogant, stubborn and illinformed.
I'd love to be able to play god, just for a few days!
My he forgive me for these thoughts.
I know its mean...but I'd do just about anything to give people like these, the worst case of Fibromyalgia ever....tell him to just get a life, take a hot bath, get good rest, have a positive attitude and that Tylenol is all thats needed IF your supposed pain is too much.
That nothings wrong with you, are you depressed? Wanting attention? Drug seeking...do you have history of drug abuse?
I'd roll my eyes, cut them off in mid sentence, pull out my pen from my starched with lab coat, write a persript for anti-seizure meds...afterall, this is all in your head, right?! So lets start there....hand them the script, walk out the door shaking my head, make loud huffing sigh, dictate into hand held recorder loudy so can be heard by all...."Patient feigning oddball symptoms, suspect is only seeking attention, drugs, perhaps refer for psychiatric evaluation, get to root of their disgruntlement, unhappiness....perhaps midlife crisis, geeeze, these WOMEN"!
And don't tell me you wouldn't want to do that same to a few who've been dismissive towards your pain!
If not, then you need to be elected for Saint Hood up there with Mother Theresa! Or maybe you've found a doctor worthy of our respect...if so I'll be a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts either his beloved wife or daughter has Fibromyalgia and has seen first hand their lives slowly fall apart knowing they'd once been a very productive part of society...afterall, most of us have/had Type A personalities....right?!
Gentle hugs. Cheryl
