Hi all,

Another interesting thing to add to the mix.

My Dr has been looking into my throat issue and recently I had my thyroid levels etc checked. Last year in April when they didn't know what was wrong with me, I had my thyroid checked it was normal. Exactly one year on, I'm borderline hashimoto disease (underactive thryoid). The thyroid is also presenting large on an ultrasound. It has come out of nowhere, so not sure whether there might be something in that and the leak. I think hashimoto is another auto-immune condition which based on my history is not overly surprising but for it to come out of the woodwork now is very surprising. They are going to watch it for a while and if need be medication might be in order.

Worth checking on if you are serial leaker to see whether there is some type of connection there.

Just bumping this up as a reminder to keep an eye on your levels.

I had normal thyroid levels when tested at the beginning on my leak experience, borderline hypothyroid levels 12 months into leak experience, then normal again for about a year and now 2 1/2 years later severe hypothyroidism requiring immediate medication.

Interesting a bad taste in the mouth has been noticed by some patients prior to diagnosis so we be interested to see if it dissipates.

Another auto-immune condtition added to the list....

I too have low thyroid and am on medication. I have been leaking for over 2 years and started synthroid about a year ago. My Dr. thinks the connection to the leak may be because of brainstem irritation. IE; autonomic functions being messed up by pressure in that area. Sounds like a reason anyway?
