View Full Version : George Clooney could help
Sounds like Georgle Clooney went through this very nightmare we are all going through. I wish he would start a foundation. We need better tests, and more research into detection and repair. I think I may write a letter, but I doubt he would ever see it.

George's leak was a result of trauma during filming of Syriana (or another film). Something about falling off a chair. I heard a really good audio interview once where he talked about it. Might be worth doing a search for those who are interested. And Eman, it's worth a try!
I searched for more info on this, and didn't find much. This article (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/87122004.htm) is interesting because it claims that Clooney is bitter that the doctors he saw first wouldn't take him seriously. "A lot of the doctors were like, 'You've got a headache. Go home.' I understand what they were thinking: 'Oh, he's an actor. He's being dramatic.'"
The most interesting thing I uncovered is the fact that many of the interviews Clooney gave to different publications have the same questions and answers, verbatim. For instance, at least half a dozen supposedly different interviews contain this answer from Clooney: "...and ended up with what they call CSF leak, which is a cranial spinal fluid leak — good fun. I highly recommend it for everybody out there."
It appears that many of these "interviews" consisted of the newspaper or magazine publishing a list of questions and answers they got from Clooney's publicist. Shocking, just shocking (not really).
There is more than just that one out there. I wonder if Clooney even knows that people actually suffer from this condition on a chronic level. We need a foundation. We need better tests and treatments.

I agree it is worth a shot to contact him! Maybe we should have a George Clooney letter writing campaign? I have been considering contacting the talk shows with my daughter's horror story (I only gave you guys a VERY short abbrev version!) to get the word out....Not sure if they would be interested, but I bet there are more kids out there too...but when "the experts" tell you nothing is wrong over and over and over, you believe them..for a while. Then you realize that you KNOW your kid better than every doctor combined. It is absolutely horrible what we all go through--and alot of the time it is nothing more than the doc's ego that stands in the way! Anytime any doctor tells me what the "medical textbooks" state, I usually come back with "Tell me where in the textbook is Taylor's case?" If you can't think outside the box, I don't need you on my daughters team. "NEXT"
Tamaretta,
the bottom line is CSF leak detection and treatment are barely out of the stone age (quoting guinepig). If we could get someone famous that went through a version of our ordeals, maybe we could actually get some research and progress, like Christopher Reeve did, or Michael J Fox's contribution to parkinsons. We need help, not just a couple of neurologists/surgeons interested in the syndrome. This is a serious condition. Many people need help.
I wonder how we could get through to Clooney. I don't know for a fact, but I believe Schievink fixed him. I read he got it figured out at Cedars Sinai. Clooney sure seems like a nice guy from his interviews, etc...

Tamaretta,
Here's all the Clooney contact info. Talk shows would be an awesome Idea. You should pursue that, something might happen...
