Restaurants in Chicago that are GF

Well, we are at a Trade Show in Chicago. My husband and I always start our visit off by having lunch at a favorite restaurant. It is one of the top restaurants downtown with excellent chefs. I had a GF meal last year with no problems.

This year we went in and discussed our needs and especially mentioned the salad problem...you know....if the salad comes out with croutons we need a whole new salad...blah...blah!

So, we ordered mussels which were wonderful last year. I saw them bringing the mussels out...I saw a piece of toast in the bowl. I then saw our waiter who knew of our problem grab the piece of toast and toss it out of view.

Then he had the audacity to serve me the mussels.

How disappointing!

I know Wildfire and Vinci have GF meals but if anyone has some other Chicago downtown restaurant recommendations, I would love to hear them.

Next time you go to Chicago you will have to go to http://www.dalucianos.com/ There you will be able to order pizza, pasta and dessert :p The food is great. the menu is huge.

They really understand about GF cooking because the 4 youngest daughters have CD.

Just checked out the site....I was just telling husband I was dying for some good Italian! I am still in Chicago...I will be here until Wednesday. I just checked the distance and it looks to be 15 miles and 27 minutes away....so that may not be an option. We usually walk to all our restaurants as we are staying in downtown Chicago with no car.

Maybe I can convince the guys to appease me tonight!

The heartland cafe in Chicago was a huge treat for my sisters and I as they catered to my sisters vegetarian diet and my gluten and dairy free diet. Plus they had wonderful whole food options, great drinks (fabulous teas, wine, organic coffee).

And the prices were great!
It was a wonderful find. I would seek it out again, for sure!
