G'day everyone.
Here it is. The one you have all been waiting for, part two of the thriller serial ;)
Roughing Grant up and getting away with it without the Department stopping us! :)
This is part of Grant's tactile program. When Grant was a baby he had zero knowledge of his body. Zero knowledge. It was very sad. But the tactile program helps him realise that he has a body that can feel touch.
I have consulted with the Myspace folk and they have said that the $15 entry fee is to cheap, so the price will go up very soon, but don't delay today. Have a look now and post a comment and you won't be charged = can't be fairer than that.
Looking forward to hearing what you reckon. Thank you.
Paul, Alison and Grant in training :)

Looking good my friend!!!!! We have tactile gloves also, a set of silkyones, rough onesand ones with a plush carpety feel. We just got Megs a new harness and she was in it today and it works GREAT!!!! This one has nothing in the straddle area, it has upper thigh straps......WONDERFUL!!!!

Are you practicing Doman stuff now? This is very similar to the tactile stim I did with Becca during our Doman therapy year. I had a box full of different textures as well as gloves to rub on her . . . hot and cold too.
Great job!

Kathleen Ididn't know you did Doman in the past. We have done it with Megs since she was 2 yrs old.

Oh yes. . . I am a fan. We did it hard core for a year. . . a bit of patterning, stimulation, masking, and the reading program too. It was hard, but worth it. Becca learned to creep on all fours after she had only ever crawled on belly . . . then walked. She skipped creeping. SO we both had knee pads and went at it many times per day. Also did olfactory stuff.
I did see her hemi side get stronger. . . but that was about it overall. Still worth it. Also . .. . as a result of Doman reading program . . . she started reading at age two and now reads WAY above grade level. . . sixth grade I think was her last testing. Her comprehension is a bit behind her fluency. . .but still way above for a 5yo!
Love Doman. And I remember sending masks to Paul when we went up to Philly for the seminar and visit to the Family Hope Center (run by a couple that worked at the institutes for 20+ years with Doman) which is why I asked if he was back at it or just never stopped. I get everything out and have spurts every now and then for therapy. . . but restraint therapy and her cast from camp last summer seem to be getting the best results at this point.
Anyone wondering what we're talking about read books by Glen Doman. Love them.
Hugs,
Kathleen

We went to the What to do about your brain inujured child course, we did the patterning for about 5 yrs and we still do most of the rest of program on a daily basis. When we 1st started Megs didn't even have a light reflex sowe would be in the bathroom doingthe pin light I bet 300 times a day.....She gained the light reflex and then moved to tracking stuff. We do the gravity free, and just got a new harness for it......It has been great for Megs. Yes a lot of hard work, but worth it. So cool......
I remember when we 1st started the program and was did the masking we took the mask and timer with us and masked all the time and that really did good for her seizures. We don't mask that often now, but if she has a bout with seizures, and before her spinal surgery we masked for about a month before her surgery to get her lungs stronger. The math bits and the reading program are awesome too. Megs was reading early also. We had 100's of cards we made that were big in bright red words........
We know that because of all we have done/still do on a daily basis iswhy Megs hasbeen so healthy and done so great over the years.....

Is that the same as CIMT (constraint-induced movement therapy)? I did my viva on that last semester (because we could pick anything as long as it was neuro and therapy related).
If so, it's good that that seems to be working :D (admittedly it worked in all the studies - the question is more over how much time you need to spend doing it, and what type of constraint).
