So Incredibly Sad

One of Jake's little classmates passed away on Tuesday. He only has 4 classmates and she was his little buddy. They were very close and would smile and chat together in their way. She got a cold over spring break which apparently progressed to pneumonia. We'll be going to a service tomorrow. I can't even begin to comprehend the magnitude of what this family is going through. Yet, it feels like it could have been me. And it is never far from my mind. This is so hard. Please give all your little ones extra special hugs tonight.

I am so sorry for the family and Jake. I am sure he will miss her. When my cousin passed away (granted he was 47 - but mentally like 3 and non-verbal) many of his "classmates" (self-help workshop participants) came to his funeral and spoke. One really big guy (at least 6 feet and 250lbs) said that he was Joe Joe's body guard! My sister was struck by how many of his classmates came and how many friends he really had. She told my 16 year old niece to look around and note that everyone fits somewhere.

I am praying for the family. It is so hard to lose a child, especially from a cold...it seems so harmless.

Mmmm...that hits TOO close to home...I can not imagine and do not even want to. I am so incredibly sorry for the family and for her classmates, it's just not right, is it? I hope none of us ever feels that kind of pain, even though we all know we walk close to the edge.

I know that fear so well. I have been to two funerals of kids under 3 since Langan started on this journey. It is something I will never understand.

My son has a NT classmate that went home one weekend. Over the weekend he caught a virus that went straight to his heart. He has been on a heart bypass machine for several weeks now, waiting for a new heart. It's amazing, with all our kids go through and survive okay, how the littlest things can just take over................
