there is a ground hog hole in the curve near our house. i spotted the hole over a year ago and started watching to see if anything was around. i saw it only once alive until today. i could tell it was still around as there was always fresh dirt even after the ditch filled with water. it would go somewhere and renew the hole after the water went down.

today it was lying in the ditch. i hoped it was sunning itself. even though hubby was in a hurry to go start work, he drove me back by. sure enough, it is dead! now i'm wondering what killed that pretty animal. i know they are probaly a nusiance. just ask me how pretty i think beavers are after they destroyed our lake at the farm, lol, but i liked this critter.

Do they live very long? I've never seen one except on TV. Wonder what killed it? I figure a snake would have eaten it if that was the culprit!

We have racoons that live in the pipes around here, only spot one once in awhile though. Sometimes they are right here in the woods, climbing the trees & jabbering away, very mean critters though.....will kill a cat if defending their young.

I'm watching a wild bunny right now, it comes down to eat the cracked corn we put out for the mourning doves. Rags seems to be keeping the coyotes away from here this year.....good doggie!

Buttons loves critters!
