:) I wanted to say hello and welcome to the forum, although I am sure that this is something you wish you had never heard of.

Please keep in mind that those of us here in the forum, to one degree or another are probably the "exceptions" to the rule. That 10% that is left after the 90% just get all better.

My leak was not cranial but there are other cranial leakers here. They would be better at answering your specific questions. Please don't be discouraged by some of our stories. Like I said....I think we are that 10% and you have a much better chance of falling in to the 90% group!

Best of luck to you and I am sure the head leakers are gonna find ya! Keep asking questions and reading the previous posts will be informative as well.;) And please keep us informed of how you are doing.

Hi Suburban Lady,

I think Pain-In-The-Neck hit the nail on the head. Most people with leaks probably never even make it to this website because the leaks either resolve relatively quickly on their own or some form of surgical repair is successful. Unfortunately, there are some of us "misfits" who have chronic or unrepairable leaks. It is very unlikely you will be one of us. I am also hoping that over time none of us who are regulars here (even you Dagaz) will be posting here anymore either because we ALL will be fixed or healed! How's that for a positive thought for the day!;)

Today is the 20th of APril and I am home from the hospital having undergone the surgery. It was a lot more complicated and involved than they explained to me, but now we are waiting for a towo week period to see if it was a success and no leaks. When they went in they found my bain had herniated into my nasal cavity and had to remove a small portion of brain that they say is not a part you use anyway. Also, the smll hoe they saw ont he CT Scan and MRI turned out to be larger than they thought. I stopped breathing on the table, but apparently God brought me back for a reason. So far I do not feel any leaks. I was also not prepared to lye flat on my back for the 4 1/2 days that I had to as my surgeon had led me to beleive I could be slightly elevated. (I never lye flat at home) so this was torture, with the packing and only being able to breathe out of my mouth. Anyway, that's my update - happy to be back in life again! Surburbanlady

Hello SuburbanLady,

Thanks so much for checking in with us and letting us know how things went. Wow! I'm sorry to hear about the complication during surgery but so glad things went okay in the end. I am hoping that after your two weeks you are symptom-free and getting back to normal. I'd appreciate it if you would post again in a couple weeks to let us know how you are doing. It is helpful for those of us who are "stuck" here on this message board because of chronic leaks to know that there are actually people who get "fixed". It gives all of us hope.

Have a great day and just let your body rest, okay.

Surburban,
i have found that for some doctors, surgery is an extension of an office visit, which are those things that are part of an efficiently run practice to maximize revenue. you seem to be saying that your neurosurgeon didn't inform you of all the post-surgical requirements. it seems to be some kind of initiation ritual. unfortunately this is how we learn that we must be responsible for ourselves and be our own physicians, through sharing information. hope the surgery benefits you permanently.
