I picked up Andrew at school today because he was projectile vomiting. When I spoke with his associate and teacher they both agreed he was vomiting flem and they also said it was coming out his nose at the same time.

He doesn't sound wheezy but he is coughing alot (while awake). He also has very putrid breath. And I mean putrid (ick).

So would this be in correlation to his asthma, even if there is no wheezing? He's been sleeping now for about 2 1/2 hours plus he slept 40 minutes at school before I got there. No fever either.

Thanks,

Laura

I know he has a gtube but wasn't sure if he still ate by mouth but when I heard the putrid breath I thought possibly aspiration pneumonia. I just remember reading that when I looked it up before although he may not have all the signs for it it might be something to check on. Just throwing it out there. I hope he feels better soon!!

Is it possible he has a sinus infection? That can give you bad breath.

Hope you figure it out soon!

If he managed to get a mouthful of phlem and swallowed it (when I was in kindergarten I had a nasty cold...I coughed up a mouthful of phlem and then swallowed it) it would definitely cause him to throw up phlem (I sure did), that is if he swallows.

I had a student once who had infected adenoids. Didn't make him throw up, but I did think he dukied his pants. (recurrent problem, so we managed to figure it out)

I was thinking sinus infection, also. Would explain the flem and the stinky breath. Not to be too gross, but if the flem is/was colorful (yellow, green, solid white) it is another sign of infection.

Thanks for the thoughts. I was thinking it was maybe his allergies/asthma because he did start wheezing last evening. Threw up again this morning and is now running a low grade temp. We have an appt with the Ped tomorrow am.

So much for Kindergarten roundup tomorrow. :(

Amen to that! Allie has strep again, too.
