I need information on the different stages of cancer. my mother-in-law is aking me question and even though I know some of the answers, what I should tell her and what I know aren't the same it would help me to understand what to avoid telling her. She doesn't understand what the doctors are telling her
Every time she goes in they tell her she's at a different stage. So I need to understand what the different stages are

Hi:
I procrastinated myself into Stage III colon cancer at 49. I had 8 months of
chemo after surgery, but it isn't as bad as you'd think. Hey, I didn't even lose my hair although it got thinner.
Tell her that she doesn't have to feel sick from the chemo. TAKE THE
MEDS BEFORE SHE FEELS SICK -- IT IS EASIER TO PREVENT PAIN AND
SICKNESS/NAUSEA than it is to relieve it after you feel it. Write down
your symptoms and you will notice a pattern. That will help to determine
when the best time is for her to take them. There was one medicine for
nausea that was normally taken for 24 hours after chemo. I found that
it helped me better if I took it for 48 hours. When I asked the doc, they
said sure and changed the prescription. If something stops working, just
let the doctor know, they WILL have a next level medicine. I found that
they even had a next level of medicine that I only had to take 2 times in
the 8 months. There's no reason to suffer when the doctors can give you
medicine to prevent it.
After my first chemo, my boyfriend and I went to the hardware store and
then out to dinner. He went with me to the first chemo (mine was once per week for 4 weeks, skip two weeks for 8 months), I drove myself to all of the
rest of the treatments.
Keep up your strength, eat whether you feel like it or not because you
will miss treatments if you get too weak. You don't want it to take
any longer than it has to.

I hope this helps some...
Prayers for recovery,
