I just wanted to see what you all think of my new page, I just made it today and it hasn't been googled or anything yet, but I am proud of it...I finally decided to make a stand against the misinformation that is out there about CP, if you think of anything else that I should add please let me know. :)

Link is in my siggy, The Truth About Chronic Pain. ;)

ETA: Wow this is my 555th post! Half-way to one thousand and then some!

Thanks Lisa, thank you Mark. I really appreciate that you went and took time to read. I had been a little leery about putting up a CP related page because I don't know what people think about me and part of me didn't want people to know how bad it is, but because of all of you here I found the courage to stand up and add a page about it to my website.

Beleive it or not all I had to code up was the body of the page, the header including the sidebar was already done, as was the footer with the copyright info. I have a dear friend in the UK who hosts my site for me because he respects me so much and wanted to help get Cyber-Soup's message out there.

He's taught me how to make a 'virtual header/footer' so that is why the page looks seamlessly like the rest of the site with the exception of the Def Leppard Area and the pages for my son, Jackie's pages about autism and developmental disabilities. Thanks for checking it out and letting me know what you think. It means a lot to me to know that others appreciate what I wrote. :)

Pamster,

I like it! Who cares what everybody else thinks LOL! Your pain and your thoughts on it are unique to you and I am glad you wrote about it. :) Good job too! I think you may be surprised at how many people may be able to relate to it. Or, even if it is nitpicked, you can always respond, right? :)

That's right Kathi! I sure can respond if someone has a problem with anything I said. I am glad I wrote it too, I had been wanting to do something on Chronic Pain for quite some time but like I said before, I just was a little afraid of what people would think. I am glad I found the courage to do it though, thanks to everyone here. ;) :D

I really like it Pam! I have actually always wanted to write a book about my experience with MS, but a whole book!? lol. I am not even a writer! My own webpage seems a bit more realistic, and you have got me thinking of starting one :)

Like yours, even if only one person reads it, it would be well worth it! Although I have a feeling alot of people have read yours. Do you have a ticker on there? I can't remember seeing one. If not, that would be a good idea...

Just added a site meter, thanks Jena! I should have added it yesterday, but I didn't have time, but this time I had a bit of time so I quickly signed up and got one. :)

You should try to get a webpage up about your experiences, Cyber-Soup has been around for many years and been through many changes but one thing that won't ever change is that it's about raising awareness about disabilities. :)

I never heard of cyber-soup, but it sounds great. I take it the premise is people go on and do what you did? How would I even start one? Would I need to hire someone? Sorry for all the ??? :D

I just went to Cybersoup.com and it seems like a Forum like this one, no? I am so confused! lol

I used to run a board, but it was nowhere near as busy as this board is-LOL I don't post there anymore really because it's just not busy enough. I still keep it open for people to go read the old threads or to post if they want to. But I hardly ever run by there since I am always here.

If you're inspired to make your own webpage it's realtively easy. In fact I am inspired to make a How To page right now. I am thinking it will take a little while to get ready but in the meantime if you want to make one you can write up the text you want to put on a page and look around for a free web page provider.

Here are just a few to get you started on what ones to look into:

http://www.freewebspace.net/ <-- this is a free web host comparison site good resource...

http://www.freewebspace.com/ <-- free web page provider

http://geocities.yahoo.com/ <-- another free web host

http://www.50megs.com/ <-- this was my first web host provider

For a laugh this is what my original site looked like:

Give me some time, like the middle of next week and I will hopefully have an easy how to get your own page set up and added to my existing site. :) It's funny I didn't think I would be able to update Cyber-Soup again until AFTER we moved and here I have added two pages since thinking that. It's amazing what you can do if you're motivated and have time to kill. ;)

Thanks for the sites Pam :) So, that is how it works - I set up my own site then add it to yours? Is that what others do? Or, I just do my own? Is it the same as having a Blog? Or, is there a difference? Maybe I am getting in over my head since I have so many questions! lol

I am almost done with the how to, I had some time so I am working it over now. You can link to other sites and that is cool, but you can't like physically add anything to mine because I have a host that only I have the information to get in and manage the pages. Once you find a host you'll have a log in and directories to upload pics to to use on your pages. Give me a couple of hours and I should have this how to I am writing done. :)

Blogs are different in that they are set up by the blog company and all you do is enter the text in that you want to have on a given entry page, I have a live journal and hardly use it but it's nice to have. :)
