Deb,
The ER stands for extended release, it means it just lasts longer in your system. So that will make the shape different. Any drug can look different if they have generics, Pharmacies use different generics, or may change to another generic if it comes out and it is cheaper, but it still has the same medication in it.
Hope that helps:)

If you just got a refill - not a new Rx - and the color/shape is different and the pharmacy didn't note on the bottle or bag that the color/shape is different.. DO NOT TAKE ANY ... until you contact the pharmacy for clarification...

Thank you. I just can't beleave this board. All the help that everyone has gave has made me feel not alone.
Steve thanks I did just that. They said they were sorry they didn't tell that it was from a new co. That is was that same meds nother maker. I alway look at my meds and count them. I had got some pain meds one time and they shorted me 30 pill. They did it the time before but I never counted my meds. I ran out early and thought some took them from my home. That is when I started to count all meds and found out it was the pharmacy. I couted them in front of them and the Pharmacist got very mad and said he was sorry and he would look into it. From that day they have been right.
Thank you

Steve - I was not aware of this and have noticed this on a couple occasions. I just assumed that it was a different generic company. It still could have been, right?

Normally - when a generic is involved - the tablet is just from a different source...but there are still humans filling the prescriptions.. distractions and interruptions are constant and on-going in the pharmacy...
The computer industry shoots for having a computer up 99.999% of the time as the ideal goal.. - called FIVE-NINES - in pharmacy attaining only that degree of accuracy would mean that FOUR MILLION RXS would be mis-filled every year.
If you get a Pharmacist that get upset because you check on your meds because they look/smell different.. I would look for another pharmacy/pharmacists to fill my prescriptions.

Deb,
I am glad that you did call the pharmacy! My brain don't work as well as it used to:) .
Steve,
I am so glad you responded and told Deb to call the Pharmacy. It is much better to err on the side of caution! I used to be a Registed Nurse and over the years I worked I found that none of us are infalable. I didn't even think to give Deb that suggestion. I should have! I guess that is why I don't/can't work any more!
:(
