there's a columnist in my local newspaper "dr. peter gott". he writes a weekly column, and is kind of an old-fashioned m.d., answering readers' questions.
today's column is HORRID about lyme. i've given the paper to the recycler already, but what the questioner wanted to know were 3 things, and dr. gott got 2 of them totally wrong......the third thing was "can chiropractors test for lyme?" which he answered "yes". the other two things had to do with the pathetic treatment plan of 2 weeks doxy followed by another TEST.
someone who can write well should blast this guy out of the water! he doesn't have a website. like i said, "old-fashioned" and sometimes sensible, but not today......dianne

i can't seem to find a link to any archived columns, but this link is a description of the kind of stuff he writes.....
today's column recounts his OWN LYME DISEASE. yes, he had it recently and was treated and recovered. this must be why he has not encountered the long-term effects! dianne

I read Dr. Gott everyday. I live in Mt. Vernon (north of Seattle). I've managed to hold my temper so far with his Lyme articles cause I realized he was just among the ignorant & I DO enjoy some of his columns....and until a couple days ago he really hadn't stated anything that got my BP up! Then the comment about Lyme ONLY from deer ticks...this took me right back 8 years to my former PCP confusing deer ticks with dog ticks & spiders in our state cannot possibly cause any harm,etc....
But yesterday I nearly blew a gasket reading his own experience with Lyme! I'm thinking of writing to him now, just have to keep it "short" & not sure I can do that. I'd like to send him some links (such as Dr. Bransfield's article on neuro-psych Lyme).
Here I am giving up on all doctor's & trying to de-stress from my horrid ins. experience & the ins. co keeps sending me crap & even phoning me this week, and then I read Dr. Gott & 2 days in a row he's got Lyme as the subject!
I feel like I'm slipping down the mud slope! My head is splitting & I'm back to not being able to sleep cause of myoclonic jerks all night & here's this DOCTOR informing who knows how many millions of readers that Lyme is cured in 3 weeks of doxy!
By the way, for those that don't have the pleasure of reading Dr. Gott, his whole point was to stay out of the sun when on Doxy,he got a bad reaction while on vacation....if he had Lyme as bad as many people do there's no darn way he could have even GONE on vacation!
He's just put the state of WA backwards YEARS in getting Lyme recognized!
Buttons is surely MAD now!
