Well, I try to keep the political stuff out of here, but it's difficult with this subject. I'm more than a little perturbed this morning. The headline in our local newspaper says that the Morro Bay Compassionate Caregivers Cannabis Club was raided by the DEA yesterday as well as the home of the owner. One employee was arrested on drug charges for providing medical Cannabis. The DEA has been doing raids like this all over the state of California. What makes this one worse is two factors; 1. This is the only cannabis club in this county or nearby and now the owner is talking about shutting it down. 2. The local sherrif's department coordinated the raid! Local law enforcement is supposed to enforce local laws and state laws. It is state law that cannabis clubs can operate within the state. The cannabis club had a legitimate business liscense under the city codes of Morro Bay to specifically operate a cannabis dispensary at that location. HERE IS A LINK (http://http://www.sanluisobispo.com/mld/sanluisobispo/16998620.htm) to the story. If you can't follow clickable links like the one above, here is the url for the story: http://www.sanluisobispo.com/mld/sanluisobispo/16998620.htm
It really irks me that our county sherrifs department coordinated the raid. Granted, I don't have my prescription yet because of doctors who fear cannabis (won't write any prescriptions for anyone) so it doesn't affect me directly. I'm still forced to get it off the street when my seizures are so bad that I can't live with them. It still affects me that other people who need this wonderful medicine will now be forced to go to the streets for more questionable sources of their medicine or be forced to drive several miles or just do without their medicine.
Namaste,
Daniel
