I just wanted to let anyone with a dog or outdoor kittie in the North East and MidAltantic states know that the ticks are back! With one heck of a vengence! We've already taken a completely engorged one off of my Codi Bear, so that one had to have been there for a day or more. Plus, I was sitting on my bed and suddenly felt a tickle on my hand. Yeah, it was a tick, but luckily the regular ones, not the deer ticks (we have a lot of the deer variety because our backyard is usually where the deer bed down for the night. I hear them with some regularity outside my window. After a few trips downstairs and out the back door with a bat and the phone, pre dialed with 9-1, all I had to do was hit that other 1 and the police would be here within a half hour. I figured all I had to do is get the intruder beat up enough where they couldn't move and the police would be here before they bled to death in my backyard. It was just the deer and I've never had to use the bat on them.)
So, get out whatever your tick removal/prevention method is! We usually use Frontline, which works okay as long as we remember to put it on him (it takes 2 people..he's a squirmy big doggie! Mom usually holds him down because he's too strong for me, so I do the frontline). But whatever you choose, I'd start doing it! We've already got the tweezers out on both floors so if we need, they're right there for us!
I just thought I'd let you all know. Also, if any of you walk outside at all, keep your eyes open. I've already had one that luckily found it's way onto my hand and nowhere else where it could embed itself. So make sure you stay safe and tick free!! And your pets too! :D
