Hi, All,
I am posting here since I use this forum the most and know so many wonderful folks living in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. My mom was diagnosed 2 days ago with bladder cancer and we are all still reeling from the news.
The diagnosing urologist wants to operate on March 30, exactly 1 week from his diagnosis, but we feel a second opinion is necessary since each of the types of cancer has very different treatments and proper diagnosis is critical. Mom lives in a very tiny town in the Blue Ridge Mountains and we are more comfortable trying to find excellent care for her.
We are looking for names/contact info of terrific cancer surgeons, urological-oncology surgeons, etc. practicing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. We have the names of a few people at Bowman Gray (Wake Forest medical School) and hope to get more referrals at Duke, UVA MCV and other large hospitals. We naturally want Mom to have state of the art technology and a medical team who manages bladder cancer regularly and with good results.
If you know of a terrific oncologist- surgeon, or a wonderful urologist-surgeon or great cancer treatment center I would really appreciate and referrals you can make. We are not interested in the Issels Clinic Groups or their laetrile-based cancer treatments in the U.S. or Mexico.
I would really appreciate it if you would please contact me via private message here if you know of a great surgeon, oncologist, cancer treatment unit/hospital, etc. or other medical professional who treats bladder cancer.
