Our dog "Rusketts" part German Shepard/collie mix....was the best dog we ever had...
least thats the way we felt about him when he was alive.
He was always an outside dog.
Do any of you remember the Christmas story I wrote about him? I wrote it around Christmas...
but can't remember if it was this last year I wrote it, or if it was on old BT before the "big crash".
If any of you want to read that funny story again...let me know and I'll rewrite it. Its about when he ate the entire ginger bread display.
But for now I'll just tell about the first time Rusketts spent the night inside.
Our 9 year old son loved African type animals...so he had pillows and stuffed animals of Lions, monkeys, giraffes.
His favorite was a monkey called "Eee-bie"...was usually tucked into bed every night...beside his white dolphin (secretly his favorite) that went everywhere he went including summer camp...it was well hidden in his sleeping bag. Our son was very, very tender hearted and always loved animals.
I was a meticulous housekeeper, so animals inside our home was not something I allowed. Besides, Rusketts had very long hair and we lived in San Diego where the temperatures were usually mild, even in winter.
So my son bad to do a lot of begging until I relented and allowed Rusketts to sleep in his room.
We were awakened by my sons desperate sobs around sunrise.
We went running to his room and found every single stuffed animal missing their faces. Rusketts had managed to chew off every single face and didn't touch them anywhere else.
My son was a little spoiled and I had never hit or spanked him....so he in turn didnt hit anyone or anything...but he was threatening to give Rusketts a well deserved "spanking"...he asked me to spank Rusketts for him....too funny!
I told my son I'd give him a long time out....outside!
I spent a month repairing all the damage done that night.
My son is 37 years old now...has a daughter of his own...he still has his "babies" stored in his attic! Talk about sentimental!
Rusketts lived another 14 years after that.
Blessings, cheryl

Cheryl, that's a good story! And yes I do recall the gingerbread story but not sure if this year or before the crash.

I think I just recently posted about Rags & his newest teddy bear. The first one (after months),he tried to gently remove the eyes, I caught him & said no,then one day he managed to tear a seam open, I kept following the trail of white stuffing......he lost that one to the trash since I was afraid he'd choke on a cotton puff.

Now he has teddy #2 & keeps trying to sneak it outside, I suspect either to tear it open or hide with all the other toys under the deck! It's funny how gentle he can be with stuffed toys,he has big teeth but he uses little nibbly bites, does the same with me sometimes to get me out of bed!

now that's odd. see my dog like to tear up stuffed animals too. but he is learning that he can only tear up those that i give him pretty well. now watch to read where i tell he has torn uip something i just love, lol.

that pink straw hat at emilee's birthday time was the scariest. we had bought her one at the dixie stampede from branson. just made of paper really i think. BUT her mee-mee or something or other had bought her 2 to choose from for her birthday. she kept the grown-up nice pink felt one. i was so afraid that was the one she had got. and i was so relieve i did not punish the dog. anyway, as hubby was the one that had found dog and hat, the time had passed, i felt. the evidence was already in the garbage. i would have scolded him had i found it.

cheryl, i didn't read the gingerbread story i don't think. it must have been last year? as i believe i would remember (i hope so anyway). tell it again sometimes when you have time please.
