Hi there

At 38 I had a suitable partner and therefore wanted a baby. I became pregnant straightaway and it was during the scan that a fibroid was detected. They told me there was no question of a miscarriage because of the fibroid

I wanted an amoicentes because of my age. I had this done and they were very careful to make sure they didn't pierce the fibroid in case it brought on a miscarriage. Everything went well and I had no problems with the pregnancy and had an 8 pound baby.

Approx 10 years later I started on and off bleeding and flushing and it was the menopause. I went on HRT to stop the flushing and had a D&C ( biopsy of the lining of the womb ) to make sure that there was nothing sinister going on.

Some years later I started getting more bleeding and stomach ache and had anothe D&C . They told me that the HRT had made my fibroid grow so big it was taking up almost all my womb.

They decided to removed the fibroid. I went to the day clinic and the fibroid was removed. I suffered no ill effects and of course the bleeding and stomach ache stopped immediately.

I do realise how worried you are but I think your fibroids could easily be removed but at the same time if you can become pregnant and get over the first couple of months I don't see why you should miscarry. I was told that the fibroids are not rock hard and can easily be pushed aside by a healthy baby.

Anyway I don't suppose my posting has helped you much as due to my age things are not the same

I wish you all the very best

Sandra
