I wanted to make a brief comment about the biopsy for prostate cancer. My urologist said I had a 98% chance of prostate cancer in 1999. My PSA scores had been around 1 for several years then they jumped to 6.9 or something like that.
Anyway, I agreed to the biopsy. A friend, who had this same dr. said it didn't hurt much, not to worry about it. It hurt real bad. When I walked out of the back room my wife said my face was pale white and I could barely talk. AND I had taken vicodin before I went in.
I had a discogram done last year. When I came back to discuss the findings some other people were waiting at the counter with me. The man next to me said they anesthatized him, he was asleep thru the whole ordeal. No pain at any time.
So if you are going in for a biopsy, be aware it can be very painful for some people. If you are like my friend, with the central nervous system of a Brontosaurus, go for it. But if your IQ is larger than your shoe size, seek humane relief.
