I have a new twist to my ON (Occipital Neuralgia) headaches/migraines. And was wondering if anyone else has this also. Before the downtime on BT I think my last posting was me waiting for my results to come back to find out if my eye dilating meant I had a brain aneurysm, Well I got good news there I do not (yea!!!).
But as I was waiting in my neuro's office to get the results, I was struck with a massive migraine. (I am still not dealing well with fluorescent lighting) And with my migraine I got this bright red stripe down the center (bridge) of my nose, and once again my eye starts dilating. Turns out my ON is getting worse. The pressure in my head and face bulid up before, during and after a headache/migraine and dilate my eye and is bursting blood vessels in my nose and under my eyes. I look like I have taken a beating because after my blood vessels burst, they bruise.
Anyways, I was hoping to find out if anyone else is having this problem also and have any advice, as my neuro is at a loss for the moment. We are working for a solution, but no breaks yet.
I am also posting this in the Occipital Neuralgia section, in hopes for a hit there.

Hi Kendrah. I'm so sorry you're having such bad problems; I wish I could offer some type of suggestion, but not having those types of h/a's, I'm at a loss.

I just didn't want you to think that no one read your post or thought about what you'd asked.

Welcome to the forum; sorry you had to find us because of the h/a.

Hello Kendrah

I can't offer any helpful advice either.

If you were going to have a migraine like that, it was fortuitous that you had it when you were at the Dr's, as at least the Dr has first-hand observations of what happens. I hope that a solution is found soon.

I'm glad you don't have an aneurysm but the burst blood vessels sound awful! I get a big ugly rash on my neck when I before a migraine - I can always tell if I'm out in public & people are starting at my neck, that I have my migraine rash. I know how embarrassing something like that is, and we can't control it.

The good part is that it is a physical manifestation of our pain - like how can we possibly have this much pain & not be able to see something from it, so we do have something physical that shows from our pain.

I'm sorry, I can't remember your med & h/a history from before BT went down. Does your bp go up with your h/a's & is that contributing to the broken blood vessels?

Have you tried any diuretics to reduce the pressure? What about steriods? Vasodialators cause muscles in blood vessels to relax, so they might keep them from bursting with pressure? And, calcium antagonists reduce heart rate, so that might help? That's all I can think of right now, without knowing what you've tried....

I wanted to write a quick reply to all who answered my question or tried.
Thank you. I will get around to fixing my profile and medical history hopefully later this week along with answering some questions myself. I have a super busy (I have my wedding reception this weekend, a month and 2 weeks late due to health problems, and also my sisters wedding) week and weekend coming up.
Anyways, I wanted to log on and say that so no one thinks I am ignoring or just not answering anyone. Take care everyone and I'll wrtie more when I can!
