I was told by my neurosurgeon that I have a small Chiari Type 1. Over the last few months I have been getting more severe headaches that are on the top of my head. Also, pain that is throbbing in nature will wake me up from sleep. This pain is concentrated where my head and neck come together and the pain travels down my neck and up to the top of my head. I have also been getting dizzy and nauseous. I can no longer run because my head throbs more when doing physical activity and increasing heart rate or straining. My situation is complicated by the fact that I have hydrocephalus too, so I am not sure what is causing what. Can a mild chiari cause this type of pain on a daily basis? If it can, then will a neurosurgeon fix a Chiari that is causing a lot of symptoms, but is not severe in terms of herniation? Any help would be great.
