:D I love gimp humor (I didn't have any humor about myself for the longest time and it life is so much better with it!)
I recently had a colonoscopy(a bit more on that later). Anyway, the nurse taking care of me when I woke up had her hand bandaged as she recently had surgery on it. She kept referring to herself as gimpy. Then she went out to the middle of the room and I heard her say: "Can someone help gimpy?" and there was this silent pause and then she said "no I mean ME!"
I laughed and told her I had heard it, and thought it was funny. AS I was going out the door she came to me all nervous and apologetic and I told her not to worry about it, I thought it was funny!
Not to gross anyone out, but my gut hasn't been itself in about 7 months, hence the colonoscopy. The results: I had a severe underlying constipation I didn't know I had because I was going lots and lots! Apparently this thing happens called "overflow" when you have a blockage. Now I was given a prescription laxative. This has never happened to me before. I have never had something like this happen. I told him that I lie on my left side 99% of the time at night and don't move and he said that lying on either side alot can contribute to it. Just thought I would share my info. I was in alot of pain before and unable to eat certain things, but like I said I was going all the time. Don't mean to be gross, but wanted to share my experience. Poetwoman

Hey Poetwoman,
you should drink more beer. Beer drinkers are never constipated, and being a male, I know many women that have this problem of constipation... but not my beer drinking ladies! I have had a few colonostopies, and the laxitives are murder. I can't run!

Yeah Nicki,
I'm over at Techspot, a computer/technical site most of the time...

When I turned 50, my doctor insisted on me having endoscopies and colonoscopies just because of my age... The endoscopies are a piece of cake! The colonoscopies suck big time. It feels like the laxitives are tearing your guts out... Not fun :o

I am working on my Master's degree. Last semester I was taking a Classroom Behavior Strategies class. On the first night of class, my professor shared that sometimes teachers can cause students to have misbehavior. She said it was her first year of teaching at a private school for kids with varying disabilities. All of the students were in the room, except for the student with cp. He wouldn't budge. She went into the hall and tried to coax him in by putting her hand on his shoulder. She said he immediately drew up his arms (she demonstrated this) and ran out of the school. She later learned that he was sensory defensive.
At the end of class, I explained my cp and adhd. I also interjected that I would do my best not to randomly run out of her class. She apologized for the story, and I told her that it wasn't a big deal and that it was a funny story.

Hi all,
Blackbelt, I think that is a funny story too, and I liked what you told the teacher afterwards! (That you would try not to run out of class!)
Yes, TMagic, the laxatives are not fun and I cannot run either, luckily my place is not that big and so I don't have far to go to get to the bathroom, no matter where I am. I don't know if I shared this in my previous posts, and not to be gross, but I have to have another colonoscopy next year and instead of drinking one gallon of the laxative I have to drink TWO to make sure I am all emptied out! I can hardly wait. But, I cannot become a beer drinker, or I should say, go back to being one...I am in AA now. I have had more than my share of beer in the past!:)

Oh Poetwoman,
I didn't know you had a problem with alcohol. I know and have known many disabled folks that have a problem with alcohol and drugs. Being a webmaster and repair technician for a couple of bands here in Billings, I spend a lot of time in bars and night clubs. We were at a wedding reception until 1 this morning. I like beer and Jack Daniels, but I try not to ever drink too much...

I'm going to not have a colonoscopy for at least another 3 years. I'll be 60 then
