Would a ferret be suitable for a wheelchair-bound man?
I live by myself.

I would say no. They are a lot of work and smelly too. My daughter has two ferrets. They are adorable but thankfully she, and they, have moved to their own place.
They take constant cleaning of their cage and even though are litter trained if you don't clean it out right away they won't use it again. If I was having to look after them it would take me a good half hour to 40 minutes to do a proper cleaning.
They are very expensive to feed and vet, and surprisingly enough they do tend to be prone to some pretty odd ailments.
Even though I love the little guys and they give kisses and snuggle they move really really fast, three of us had a hard time catching up with them and getting them back in. Tried the baby gate thing they just scrambled right up and over.
I'm not sure what type of pet would be best, but ferrets it isn't.

Ferrets are cute of course but smelly & like to dash about & hide in places you wouldn't believe!
Do you have any pets right now? Maybe we can help you to figure out a type of pet that would be easier to care for....
You're in a wheelchair, can you share with us what you are able to do or not do (other than walk obviously). Do you have any household assistance? have you ever seen a hedgehog? They mostly sleep all day,are cute & some consider them to be cuddly. They also can be smelly if cage isn't kept clean.Would you be able to handle cleaning a small cage?
That's just one thought since you didn't ask about dogs or cats or birds.
Hopefully we can help you!
