does any one know about the nys passing the reform to cut costs and eliminate life time payments and increase the comp check and only recieve checks up to 10 years it says the reform will effect new recipients and no current benifits will be cut i dont know what that means i have a partial permanant classification with dissfurement i was suppose to get the check for life i have been with comp 3 years now part of the reform says you would still get future medical, any one can explain more, is this for new comp cases or does it effect us that are already on it , what happens when the time runs out severe cases are 10 years milder cases are only 5 years i cannot ever be able to make the kind of money i was use to because of my injury so i get compensated from the future loss of my pay so if any one can clear:confused: this up for me would be truly appreciated

applies to new injuries; not existing claims.

"Workers' Compensation Reform was passed by the NY State Legislature and signed by the Governor on March 13, 2007. Provisions of the law relating to maximum and minimum weekly benefits, duration of benefits, and increases in the level above which pre-authorization for medical treatment is required, will take effect over the next four months. Provisions relating to duration and level of benefits will not affect current benefits or claims. "
