Too cute! Did you actually have chickens that looked like that?
And I really like your painting, I just don't understand why you aren't pleased with it? Looks very good to me!
You've got soooooo much talent!
I can just picture Rags walking around with that fuzzy white chicken on his head-in my dreams!

oh how tweeeeet!!!! :D they are wondyful creatures walking the earth. pray their gentility live on... its like Peanutter Pan chicks.... that never grew up :)
Now your rooster, I coincide with the others. I like it. It is hard for me to "judge" paintings good/bad bla bla but sometimes this or that element might "strike me" is all. I paint draw sketch scribble write tinker... I have learned not to take myself too seriously. perhaps not even seriously enough.
Anyway your painting was warm... but dark... not blue dark... earth dark. But quite dry. You see people project themselves into art, so take everything with a pinch of salt and pepper to make sure. The dry is what came across fairly strongly and i wondered if you have that sense... i couldnt begin to suggest any changes lol. thing is, i like the painting just so.
so just tossing stuff atcha hoping of any use.
An element, for instance, which struck me in face portraits in some museum i saw in Arezzo, Italy, was the particularity of the lace neckthings... that even men wore once - that clowns still wear at times. That. Detail down to the stitches composing the lace, as well.
sure, i was awed. but wouldn't catch me painting like that.
its not me, it was the epoch
no less awesome that particular tho, eh :
by me cool painting :)

i LOVE the roosters also, cheryl!
you have so much talent. i like to see your latest artwork here.
my daughter is an artist also. she lives in new york and i miss her a lot. she paints and draws animals well, also. i am trying to talk her into doing more of these to sell, but she has ideas about what she wants to do, so she has to do what she wants.
at least i have artwork of nature and animals here from her, because that is what i always ask for as a present from her. :)
hope you are doing well today,
jeannie

Cheryl,
I loved the picture!! I have an ecletic art appreciation. I love watercolors and have tried a few of my own. But, your use of the colors are great The roosters are great, the color pallet from dark to the brights and the perfect claws, Beside the roosters I really thought the sunflower and its position in the painting is great. I have a few oils, some watercolors, but my biggest all time favorite is primitive art. I think your roosters would also fit, in my mind, to the primitive.
Cheryl, I would buy this painting not only because of the subject and the watercolors,
but, also I like as a primitive art piece also.
I hope I have not insulted you with my words as I am not an artist. I do love your painting.
Take care,
Kathy
