To me it was not its data as all of that was created from the beginning by its members...although I do hope the data will be recovered ... it was important .. but I don't think it was the key to Braintalks' success..
As all of that data came from people trying to help each other...open discussions and yes sometimes even civil disagreements...it was a place for empathy, compassion and advocacy..where people from all over the world from different cultures and regions could share their experiences...where no matter what your points of view or experiences were..you knew someone out there could understand..and lend a helping hand or ear...a place where you could return the favor by helping others..who were going through a similar experience..
I truly hope it returns as one,,..the data is important...but the compassion is what made it successful to me...as without the compassion the data would have never been there to collect..
Braintalk has grown over the years..many things have changed since its beginnings..I hope that the things that truly made it special do not become forgotten and lost..I worry about that far more than any collection of data..as the data will be collected all over again if a community of compassion returns...

Any large site is going to experience periods of change and conflict. It appears to be part of the nature of the beast. We have had it before and I have no doubt that we will have it again. The vast majority of the folks are still very empathic and supportive. This, too, shall pass. Have a great day.

It is the database of information (hope it comes back), and knowledge of the people on the board, that makes BT special for me.

The wealth of Information is what makes BT unique, but it's the comfort, support and understanding of people who know what you are dealing with every day, that keeps me coming here.
I hope it can be that way again.

I agree with you, Sally. The people keep me coming here every day. It will be whatever we make of it. (I hope)

While I lament the potential loss of all the information gathered over the many years of Braintalk, my main reason for coming here is the people. I hope that the people who made me feel welcomed and loved here will continue to return and that we will continue to attract new people who will become just as special to many of us. Many of my friends from here have come back, but many of them have not yet. I'm hoping that all those who migrated to Braintalk2 when this site had it's meltdown will be returning here whether or not they continue to use Braintalk2.
Peace,
Daniel

We as a whole make Brain Talk so special. I cannot imagine what I would do without any of you. You are special and have taught me many things. Peace...the Willowtree

That is what once made bt important to me. What made me stop posting was the fact that there were abuses that were being done by users where they would threatn and attack other users that they didn't agree with and little was done about it.
I would hope with the new (post crash) bt that many of the people who felt that it was fine to attack others and felt that they were not accountable to anyone have gone elsewhere and will no longer be a bother to the people in here who care to help others and want to make things work here rather than use it as a forum to attack people with differing views from theirs.
Regards to all
One of the things that makes BrainTalk special to me is that I've been here so long. I found MGH in 1996 shortly after I had a stroke, and I've been here ever since. I remember John Lester with long hair...LOL And that Spy-on-John Cam :D

I remember A Window On my Mind. I have fond memories of so many friends, some of which have passed away.
Sorry if I sound mushy. I'm kind of emotional today. :o

Sheesh, Mags, I guess JL grew up and we didn't.:(
I wasn't here/MGH until early 2003, so I don't remember the Cam in JL's office. What fun!!
Times have changed.<sigh>
Hugs for your mushy self.

Holy cow! Look at John with hair!! :D
I know that there is some sort of psychology behind this, but I like John with the shaved head...I guess that is because this is how I first saw him (his old avatar). We tend to like people the way we saw them the first time we "met" them. The brain is a weird thing...
As for Braintalk...I always loved it here due to the lack of (OK, low level of ;))conflict. But that may be because I don't tend to peek my head out of the forum where I read much. And I lurked a lot. But when I posted I always felt safe and comfortable sharing my problems with others here. And the advice and information have been invaluable to me. Also and especially the support. Best place to get hugs. :)
I hope many find their way back...I miss them...
