I have heard that there is a gene that you can test for to see how rapidly you will progress from HIV positive to the AIDS virus.* Does anyone have any information on this test or its validity?

I was just passing by the forum and saw your message.
There was mention in the news at the end of last year here in Australia where I live about a gene test. I thought it was to do with susceptibility to actually contracting HIV, but I just looked around and found some more information. I'm not sure if this is the one you're looking for, but thought I'd post it here in case.

If it's the delta-32 gene variant then I found these. When I found the last two I thought it might be some different thing altogether, but then when I read the first article posted below, it looks as if it's the same thing to me.

"The real benefit of the test, Dr. Reich argued, is the evaluation of haplotypes that have been found to be associated with slower or rapid disease progression."
