have been going through some off and on symptoms for the past 5 years. I have had burning sensations on my skin, achiness all over and just an uneasy feeling. It comes and goes and is always the same when it comes back.

I have seen neuros, one MS specialist... I have had MRIs w/ and w/o contrast and they are all clear. The drs. think it's depression/stress/anxiety which I know can be a catch-all.

I am just wondering - do any of you have the same exact symptoms every time you have a flair? I mean - I will feel fine for months and months then the burning comes back, tender skin pain, and achiness. It's always the same. No numbness or dizziness.

I have felt fine for about 6 mts and now am feeling bad again.

Does this sound like MS or something else?

Thanks for your opinions.

One thing you might look at is autoimmune malfunction.

The peripheral neuropathy forum here is a good place to go, and the vitamin and mineral forum is also a treasure trove.

MS can take a long time to diagnose, but there are other possibilities.

One of the things that is most frequently caused by autoimmune malfunction is the malabsorption of B12. I mention it because it presents in so many ways from individual to individual, and it is very underdiagnosed. http://roseannster.googlepages.com/home

Just recently, I have been learning more about gluten sensitivity due to a family member's recent diagnosis. One thing that really astounded me, was that symptoms of nerve damage, and neuropathy can appear before any gastro intestinal symptoms.

This is similar to what Rose is suggesting, in that your body is not absorbing the nutrients that your body needs from the food that you are eating. You might look into Celiac.com and other sites that have information about gluten sensitivity. Here at Brain talk, there is a Gluten Sensitivity/Celiac Forum. See you there. Cheerio.

Your symptoms are symptoms of several diseases.

In my opinion, doctors like to call problems they can not figure out "stress" and "anxiety." These doctors are not in the mental health profession and have no business diagnosing this, just like a psychologist could not diagnose congestive heart failure.

I am not claiming to be able to diagnose a conversion disorder, but I have done some research. Interestingly enough, patients who truly have a conversion disorder tend to refuse it as even a possibility. Also, a true conversion disorder is a rare disease. There is a lot of information out there; I will probably post some links in the near future for people who are interested.

I am sorry I have gone on and on, but I am angry for you that doctors have tried to label you. Of course, you are human could have that problem, but you are more likely to have an actual cause to your symptoms.

Take care -
