A new DVD and CD is now available. http://www.glutenfreemd.com/
I was excited about this because the title is Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance. My excitement has turned to caution after I read Dr. Pietzak's definition of gluten intolerance. http://www.glutenfreemd.com/gluten_intolerance.htm
People can also experience an 'intolerance' to gluten. Food intolerances are not thought to be immune mediated. GI symptoms with wheat or gluten intolerance may include gassiness, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and diarrhea. These symptoms are usually transient, and are thought NOT cause permanent damage.
Patients with lactose intolerance, where the lactose sugar in diary products is not digested well, may also experience gassiness, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, and diarrhea. Like gluten or wheat
intolerance, these symptoms will pass once the lactose is out of the person's system, and will not cause permanent damage.
You can read more about the differences between celiac disease and gluten intolerance according to Dr. Pietzak here http://www.glutenfreemd.com/wheat_allergy.htm
If those with gluten intolerance have antibodies to gluten, how can she say it is not an immune response? How does she know that gluten sensitivity is not the earliest stage of CD? What does she think about the work of Dr. Hadjivassiliou?
I will probably buy this DVD to find out what is being said about gluten intolerance.
