View Full Version : Cluster headaches?

On the friday before last I was having a serious headache that started in my left temple....It spread to my eye and the next day my eyelid was drooping with minor discomfort in the eyelid, it was like the muscle was sore or something.....Sunday I used a warm compress and the eyelid went back to normal.....Now I am having headaches throughout the day that are irritating but not debilitating.......They are staying on the left side, and mainly near my left temple, they only last a few minutes and then they pass, another coming on anywhere between 5 to 30 minutes apart.....

Prior to the headache I have had tearing in the left eye for about 3 weeks... I have had neck problems for years especially in the left side.....I also have vertigo every couple of years and constant tinnitis.....

I watched a clip about a man having a cluster headache and I have to say it was nothing like that, although I was having difficulty with brain fog 2 days last week.....However I also have a DX of Fibromyalgia.....And I have had head pain often for years, just nothing like in the temple and eye that one time......

Is it possible to start with a fairly minor bout of cluster headaches and for them to get worse?

Or are there varying degrees of these?

Or does the lack of severity rule out cluster headaches?

Does anyone know? :)

Thanks in advance for any input.....

I put a call in to my doctor but am still waiting to hear anything....

Fay

I certainly hope I never experience anything like the guy in the clip it looked awful......

Hi Fay. Cluster headaches can vary in intensity. Your symptoms don't sound like classic CH, but a number of the TAC headaches have similar symptoms. The first thing I would do is keep a headache diary, so your neuro can get an accurate idea of what's happening. I'll add a link to one below. Have a look at the OUCH site while you're there, there's lots of helpful info. Should you get a CH diagnosis, be sure to visit the sites linked in the threads above, the info available is priceless. Good luck and pain free wishes, nani

Fayelle, I never get headaches normally. I can't even remember the last time I had one to be honest. My daughter however suffered greatly from migraines when she was younger and saw a pedi neurologist at regular intervales. She had them so bad she would vomit, get dizzy, had auroas etc etc. She was on several medications to stem the tide of horror when it happened. One thing she was lucky about is that she had signals ( flashing lights ) right before one would strike so she could try to do a pre-emptive medication strike. I do remember keeping her in a cool, dark room with no noise, no smells etc. Finally, she grew out of them. I hope that the neuro will be as helpful as my daughters was. I do know others who suffer I will ask them to post....

Thank you Homeflight,

I have been having the headaches still, and they are still one sided and come on suddenly.....

However I changed primary care physicians friday and he is sending me to have my an ultrasound on my carotid artery I am hopeful this will shed some light on these headaches as the neurologists I have seen have not been very helpful......It will be interesting to find out if that is part of my issue....
