Hi Everyone,

Yes, it's been some time since posting here at the Pet Therapy Forum. Many of you that have followed the trial and tribulations both Franky and I have steadiy gone through will be very pleased to know that a recent event was interesting enough to make an upcoming "Johns Hopkins Magazine."

I haven't posted any updates in regard to my current status in my efforts to live as best a life as I can with my acquired 2002 Central Pontine Myelinolysis that was officially diagnosed in 2003. The finest choice of meds and therapy being Franky came along in 2004 with a fine Team of physicians to do their best at treating me. Most of you have no idea that as it's stated in many CPM generic information pages it calls for treat of said possible symptoms but the truth being this not an easy neuromuscular disease that any physician can open a handbook and be of "Proper Service."

Getting back to my #1 EVERYTHING, recently I had an experience with Franky that I felt should be relayed back to the Johns Hopkins Neurology Departartment as it was there that I was blessed to be treated back in 2005 when it was thought I had developed Complex Partial Seizures. I just so happened the fine director in this department had been doing research in regard to patients pets and any correlation whether it be a seizure or a solid connection to offer care. After telling him all the Franky stories since the day I picked Franky up as a 10 week old puppy, put him on my bed and to my amazement he walks up the bed directly to the back of my head. Within seconds Franky starts licking my brainstem which is exactly where the CPM damage is located being the demyelination of the nerves leading to the brain. From that moment, besides the fact of it being God's choice to keep me, I've now been blessed to receive a miricle in Franky.

A few weeks ago as I was sleeping, suddenly I awoke with an excrutiating pain in my knee that forced me to scream. Franky, with his short little snout (Breathes much easier) always is snuggled up under the covers. Franky immediately rose up but, "Did Not Run." Knowing I was in pain, Franky turned his body around lowered himself down on to my leg and the heat off his body was so comforting and Frank did not budge till I made the movement for him to get up.

After reading some wonderful literature that is available in regard to those of us with chronic illnesses and our relation to our pets, I'm not a physician but there is no doubt in my mind there is a communication factor available which through study research of us there will be positive findings. To anyone who may read this initial Thread Posting I feel it would encourage others to look into this matter. Good to be back here again. G-d Bless...

i get to reply first, yeah!

it is good to hear from you so thanks for the update. like many with health problems i believe that even if our pet is just an ordinary one our lives are enriched just by having a friend in a pet.

to have one like franky that is so aware of what is going on with you mentally and physically is more than happiness for you it must also be a blessing. keep posting every now and then as i know i'm not the only one that like to sees whatabreeze listed. i always check to see what is going on.

Breeze, thanks for sharing this story. How's the knee doing?

I also have a little story to share & at the time this happened I recalled how Franky had gone right to your neck when you first got him!

I have an old spider bite (8+yrs),on my foot. One day my dog,Rags, went right over & layed his head down on my foot! At the time I was having pain in that area. I was rather amazed he did this!

Good doogies!

P.S. In fact my dog has helped me more than any doctor so far......

Pet Therapy Forum is probably one Forum you can always count on a friend showing up with good wishes. I guess it's reasoning is that the greatest percentage of the time the Postings out of here are usually a positive message. Hmmmmm... Maybe they should get rid of all the other Forums and create B/T by class, breed, area, etc. Anyway we look at it we have to be some of the most truly blessed in the world under our circumstances. I know its been stated many a time but I still get such a good feeling when anyone including myself mentions the fact that DOG is GOD in reverse.

Hope all our past friends who have been distanced from B/T are all doing there best as I think about them many a time. And to those still on board, remember to P.A.C.E. yourselves. G-d Bless...
