Does anyone know what symptoms fibroids cause. I assume pain but is it abdominal pain that u might confuse with gastrointenstinal problems? i have been suffering with abdominal pain for a while. My gi doc called today with results of a ct which he said was unremarkable except for the unterine fibroids which "you already know about". No, I didn't know anything about the fibroids at all. I will talk to my gyn tomorrow. I am so upset aboout this whole business. the doc told me the blood work was fine and the report shows hi wbc, h platelets, and h lymphocytes, Maybe they aren't significantly high. i don't knowabout that and i don't even know what h platelets and lymphocytes might indicate. Potassium and sodium were low also.

I really don't have a whole lot of information on uterine fibroids, but if you haven't already found this website already, I would highly recommend it for anyone with Gyn issues: http://www.pelvicpain.org You will need Adobe reader for most of their information, but it's a great source, and it explains alot of gyn issues in plain language.

A high WBC (white blood cell count), a high lymphocytes (another type of white blood cell) and a high platelet (a blood cell that contributes to blood clotting) can all mean various things, depending on the whole clinical presentation. Be sure to address those issues with your doctors.

Hi all glad to see BT back and running I hadn't checked in in a long time and thougt that maybe it folded and what a horrible thing tha would be. I too go back a ways but mostly lurked. I am also interested in seeing how Wade T is, my wife is especially anxious to find out as she was made to feel so very welcome by him.

Has anyone heard from Halo-ram (Jeff). I stopped lurking and talking with him and I think he got tired of posting here. Or maybe he changed his handle?

Anyway glad to see BT back.

Dearest Millgirl,
My dl had fybroids. She would double over in pain and yes it was abdominal pain. She said she couldn't move it would hurt so bad and if she lay real still was the only relief she could get. She ended up having to have a hysty and said that was the best thing she ever did.
I hope the best for you and my heart goes out to you.
Love,
Linda

Linda thanks for telling me. My gyn said i would be able to distingush the fibroid pain from g/i pain. I guess i could always get another opinion on that but in the mean time i did get a second opinion on the g/i distress. Tentative dx is gastroperesis and constipation secondary to narcotic medication. I guess i will see how i do with the treatment for that. i can always revisit the fibroid issue.

I have fibroids but was only diagx as I had heavey periods and they were shorter then cycle. They were just so much bleeding it was no cycle. I had been set for hysterectomy when my Dad took ill. I then started Depro provera a harmon progesterone that took away my symptoms.

I recently stopped the depo provera shots as I am almost 52 a non smoker and thought I may be close to harmone change that would resolve all this. But, alas, it is not true.

I am trying to play it out and see if it is still a problem or if I can manage until harmone changes.....I am having an ultra sound on Monday to check the size of fibroids and also, a level check of not Harmone, but a bunch of other test to check certain levels. A harmone check doc states in not indicative to going into the change. She needs these other levels to be sure.

Hope all goes well.
Dianne

PS for abdominal pain with no diagx, there is a tissue connection near the appendix. The GYN that did my DIL surgery for possible bleeding outside the uterus, stated this is often a cause of pain. There was really no other problem when she did surgery, but did take out that connective tissue and it did resolve years of pain.

I also had fibroids and that other thing I can think of right now that intereres with conception - ahh my brain.
Low potassium is nothing to play around with - it can cause cardiac problems and low sodium caused my Dad to talk crazy, really crazy. I don't know how dangerous that is, but the potassium needs to be addressed ASAP.
I had horrible pain/heavy bleeding and felt like I'dbeen run over by a truck. I was 40 at the time and had given up trying to get pregnant, so I had a hysterectomy. That is truly the last time I remember feeling GREAT - 9 YEARS AGO.

Hope things get better - please find out how low the potassium is and get treatment for that, along with the sodium. It was so strange, when Daddy's sodium came back up with treatment, he was Daddy again!

Hugs,
Kathy

Hi Dear Millgirl ~ Bless your heart, no doubt you're scared to death. I've had them too, but I didn't have any horrible symptoms other than my periods were extremely heavy. I didn't think "alot" about that since I had ALWAYS had heavy periods from the very day I started!!!

Then they REALLY started getting heavier and heavier and I got really tired, easily. Oviously, I was getting anemic because these went on for over a week and sometimes 2 weeks. Then I'd have 2 weeks "off" and have another period. I was in my very early forties and much too young to start the 'change' ~ or so that's what the doc said, since I'd started at 12. He decided to run tests and there they were ~ fibroids wrapped around the ovaries. He said my only option was to take to ovaries ~ but at my age, I'd probably end up having trouble later on with the uterus (perhaps cancer?) and even the cervix, so we took it ALL at the same time. And I have NEVER felt better!!!!

Dearheart, you don't say how old you are ~ perhaps you want more children, so this wouldn't be an option for you. But fibroids can really raise CAIN and cause undue pain and bleeding for women. Only you can be the judge, sweetie and do NOT let anyone PRESSURE you into doing something you do NOT want to do!!! If you're too young, then stand your ground if you want more children!!!! I wish you all the best, honey. God love you. Hugs, Lee
