I have been on Topamax before with really bad results. I know it made me loose a lot of weight. I don't remember if it helped my head aches and it was not certain if I was having seizures. I had ahunt causing a lot of these problems that the med was suppose to be causing. I was a total fruitloop too. I know some here take it let me know your side effects and if they go away.

I took it for a while when my BRILLIANT neurosurgeon decided that my headaches were just migraines....and he pawned me off on a headache specialist that didn't know the vaguest thing about shunts....I mentioned the word "shunt", and she sent me packing back up to Froedtert to see my neurosurgeon...lol
The side effects I had were NUMBNESS IN THE FEET and EYE PAIN...although, I'm not at all sure the eye pan was caused by the Topamax or not....shunt malfunctions, you know?? The med DIDN'T do a darn thing for me anyway....
I noticed a couple severe periods of nystagmus (eye shaking) during the period I was taking the Topamax. I called Walgreens on it and they said that it was NOT a side effect of the drug and that I should call my doctor IMMEDIATELY. At that point, I'm like EXCUSE ME DOCTOR... SHUNT FAILURE HERE....
I hate the fact sometimes that neurosurgeons don't know the ins and outs of hydro....lol. Me, I am the ICP Queen according to my doctor's PA....I can feel even the SLIGHTEST bit of pressure in my brain...and it IRRITATES THE HALLELUIA out of me...lol
Oh yeah...a weird thing with Topamax....my taste buds went BERZERK on some things...especially SODA...it tasted NASTY!!!

I was on it for about 6 months. It made me extremely tired. It also made my headaches worse and caused numbness/tingling in my arms.

I was on Topamax for over three years. It was not the best medicine for me. I was put on it for migraines, and possible seizures. Over those three years, I was in a complete fog. I was always falling asleep and never could concentrate. I couldn't form complete sentences. At times, I couldn't even remember my name when I would introduce myself to people. I had extreme numbness and tingling in all my extremities. I suffered almost every side effect. I even wrecked my car twice because of being tired and loss of depth perception. I passed out at work three times due to the Topamax. My blood pressure was bottoming out from the Topamax. I lost too much weight and was always dehydrated.
Since I stopped taking the Topamax, I feel like my life is renewed. I feel like my old self. My neurosurgeon told me that he doesn't recommend Topamax for everyone. He didn't put me on it, a local neurologist did. He told me that it could possibly have killed me and that a person on this has to be monitored closely. He also told me that it could have been the reason why I was unable to conceive a baby during those years. Since stopping the med., I have become pregnant and will be delivering her by c-section on March 5.
Going off Topamax could possibly be one of the best things I could have ever decided.
I hope that I did not scare you, but I feel that people should know that this med. has alot of side effects. Of course not all people are the same. You could possibly benefit from it.
Sincerely,
Joanne

Joanne,
You did not scare me at all all these things happened to me the first time I took it also I was just wondering how much was it or the bad shunt. I took it 2 days this time and I have been so tired. I have stopped it and may try it again but I don't think I can take it. I have been so fatagued for the past 4 years since I started having complications I have to have my parents come help me just feed my dog and cat. I don't need nothing else to make me feel bad. I don't think it will help with my headache it is more of pressure pain not a headache. Thou you and everyone else for responding.
