Hi my friends,

I havent been on much lately but try and keep up reading on how you are all doing. I feel for those of you who suffer so unrelentingly with this. I have had a couple months of getting a tiny better every day to the point I had almost thought I was back to normal. Normal included I have had a return to almost daily afternoon headaches. That was typical before the leak symptoms happened.

Last week I shoveled snow and did other just typical physical labor stuff and now I am experiencing a return of the hard pressure symptoms in the shoulder and neck area. I do think it is csf related as I dont feel it until I have been upright for about 30 - 40 seconds and then it just comes on in a wave. VERY GOOD news is it doesnt spread to a headache. The headaches I get are not nearly that severe but they do seem to respond much better to a nap than a tylenol......

Anyway- I was also wondering about the arm numbness. I am waking up several times a night with my arms numb or asleep and achey. I am finding it hard to do much writing at all. After writing a couple checks- my hand just starts really hurting....so anyway- my family has quite a history of carpal tunnel symdrome so I think that explains these arm/hand symptoms but just wondered if it is related to the csf thing too....

Hi Painintheneck,

Glad to hear you've seen imrovement. From my own experience I do think the arm pain/numbness can be from the low csf but of course it could be from a number of things. However, all of my neurologists have confirmed that radicular neuropathies are a known side symptom of low csf. My right arm was extremely weak and numb, and achy for almost two years. As I improved, my arm improved. For the most part, seven years later since my leak started. my arm is much better, totally functional but I still have numbness sometime upon awakening and it can tire more easily, for example like when I grip something with my hand for too long. Just one more example how this condition extends to our whole being. Hope the progress continues.--Waterlover
